OH YES!!

I don't usually cover/draw about popular, trendy, contemporary things, but... I've been OBSESSED with the Amazing Digital Circus!! The music, the pilot itself... My cup of tea! I don't know why. I think it's because I fell in love with the music first; when I first watched the pilot, the main theme (WITH THE LYRICS?) instantly caught my attention. It's so simple, but I can't get it out of my head... AGH! Another Gooseworx banger for sure... Oh god, I love her music. MAN, I SURE DO LOVE THIS THEME!

I made art for this, too! Again, not something I usually do. Check it out here!:

Ok, where do I start... First of all, as much as it sounds like a "recreation", it isn't. I'm not too good in giving my own spin to the songs I cover, since I usually like preserving what made me love the song in the first place. I suppose I should work on that, eh? Oh well.

However, I did put a some touches of artistic stylization there. The biggest addition is what I changed with the percussion and drum beat. The original's drum beat, while nice, I found quite lacking compared to my style of composition. So, I added another hi-hat, some bonks, bongos, and a cowbell! Why not. Another change I added was with the main melody for the A section. Again, compared to how I like arranging music, I felt that the way the melody doesn't sustain much of its notes -- leaving space for the accompaniment to take over -- wasn't fit for my style. So I added a piano, some embelishments, and a flute! I thought they fit the song. And, I just like using the piano in almost every song I make, lol... That's a problem of mine.

I didn't change much of the harmony -- in fact, I didn't change it at all. I did thicken the texture of some parts, though! The original felt a bit empty to me in some parts. I added a rhodes keyboard to play during the repitition of the A section before the key change/modulation. (Ano ba talaga?)

OK IT MAY SOUND LIKE I'M CRITICISING THE ORIGINAL SONG BUT DON'T GET THE WRONG IDEA !! I LOVE THE ORIGINAL AND ALL MY NITPICKS ARE IN RELATION TO MY COMPOSING STYLE .... That was Gooseworx's arrangement, this is mine! There is no wrong nor is there right here, only me or you. (What?)

I had quite the hard time figuring out the melody of the glockenspiel-type sound that plays in the A section. The mixing and mastering of the theme put most of the focus on the impact of the roaring brass, which drowned out most of the accompaniment's chords and the supporting melody thingies in the background (I don't what the music terms are for those..).

Also, I would like to give a special thank you to 8-bit Avocado for sharing the BPM of the song with me, which is 115! I completely forgot that FL Studio had a tapper feature, silly me. Thanks again, and thank you for such an AMAZING 8-bit cover! Unlike other covers I've seen, yours got all the harmonies on point.

Please check their cover out!

It's strange, actually... Most of the covers I've seen as of late REALLY get confused with the ii-V-I parts huhu, WHICH, by the way, is another reason why I love the theme so much. THAT PROGRESSION/CADENCE IS HEARD EVERYWHERE, I'M TIRED OF IT, BUT I CAN'T HELP BUT LOVE IT LOLOLOL ITS SO COMMON BUT SO EFFECTIVE GODDAMMIT

Oh yeah, speaking of BPM, the intro is slower than the main theme, having a BPM of 88, based on my tapper. I had trouble with the ending as well-- It seems like that the coda is... supposed to be faster? The beats didn't quite line up when I was putting in the notes, and so you can hear at 1:48 that the last few notes lag a bit. I don't know how Gooseworx produced it, so I'm not sure if she used any automation clips for that part. I know I didn't!

EDIT: I now realize that the ending section did not slow down nor did it speed up. The BPM did not change at all. It was just me being overly analytical and not actually tapping to the beat. Sigh ...

I'd talk about what instruments I used and where they came from, but I'm reaching over 4,000 characters for this description, so I'mma just say I used alotta built-in FL plugins, Midi brass section, the Mother 3 soundfont, and the PVZ soundfont! I may have forgotten some, but oh well.

That's it for me! Thank you all for 1,000 subscribers. I hope the wait for the Evergreen pilot is worth it, soon!

(P.S, the thumbnail of this video kinda looks like a Gooseworx thumbnail... Huh!)
